 +Warriors have limited stat penalties for spellcasting so it's not too hard to teach them spells eventually, but Warriors also don't have the tremendous bonuses to physical stats that Barbarians do, so if you plan on focusing on melee and ranged attacks then Barbarian is probably better to start with. Barbarians don't start with Literacy, but that's the easiest skill in the game to obtain, so it's hardly a significant disadvantage.

 +On the other hand, Warriors dress in a suit of chainmail and have a dashing blue cape, so their appearance will look a lot more fashionable than a Barbarian's to most players!
