Guild Help

Guide on how to use and operate in-game player guilds. Guilds are player organizations that share a Guild Hall — a complex, multi-room structure with crafting facilities, storage, social lounges, and more. This page uses the Mailed Fist guild as a reference, but all guilds follow the same layout and mechanics.

Purchasing a Guild

Founding a new guild requires three players acting together and a payment of 100 Amberium coins. The purchase is handled at a dedicated guild purchase map, accessible via a teleporter.

To start this process, approach the guild Guardian, just inside the entrance of the guild Main Floor and: 'say buy

Requirements

  • Exactly three characters must be present and participating
  • 100 Amberium coins for the payment altar

Purchase Procedure

The purchase room contains three alcoves, each with a pedestal, and a payment altar in the third alcove.

  1. Player 1 enters the first alcove and stands on its pedestal.
  2. Player 2 enters the second alcove and stands on its pedestal.
  3. Player 3 carries the 100 Amberium coins and enters the third alcove.
  4. When Player 3 enters the third alcove, the gates on the first two alcoves are raised, locking Players 1 and 2 in place — this confirms their commitment to the purchase.
  5. Player 3 drops the 100 Amberium coins on the payment altar in the third alcove.
  6. Upon successful payment, all three players are granted GuildMaster rank and the way into the new Guild House is opened.

Notes

  • The sign at the entrance reminds prospective owners: “Owning a guild is a very big responsibility. If you are not ready for the time and effort involved, perhaps you should look into joining an existing guild instead.”
  • Once all three pedestals are satisfied and the altar fee is paid, the guild purchase script (guildbuy.py) fires and permanently establishes the guild.
  • All three founding members begin as GuildMasters — there are no lower-ranked founders.

Joining a Guild

The easiest way to be part of a guild is to join one that already exists. Ask friends if they belong to a guild and whether you may join. Alternatively, visit a guild and read the sign in front of the entrance — it will show who the Guild Masters are. You can then reach out to a Guild Master directly to request membership.

Initiation

Once a guild is willing to accept you, a current member must initiate you through the Hall of Joining (also called the Grand Hall).

Steps for the initiate:

  1. Travel to the Guild Hall and find the entrance to the Hall of Joining — there is a stairway down, located west of the main entrance Guardian.
  2. Walk to the Seat of Peril (a chair) and sit on it (walk on top of it) to begin the initiation ceremony.

Steps for the guild member performing the initiation:

  1. Pull the “Lock” lever once the initiate is seated in the Seat of Peril.
  2. Pull the “Load” lever — this is labeled “Pull to add member to guild.”
  3. Return the “Lock” lever to its original position to release the initiate.

After a successful initiation, the new member will be added to the guild at the Initiate rank.

Ranks and Promotions

Guild members hold one of the following ranks, in ascending order:

  1. Initiate
  2. Novice
  3. Guildman
  4. Journeyman
  5. Master
  6. GuildMaster

To promote a member:

  1. Visit the Guild Oracle (the crystal ball object in the Guild HeadQuarters).
  2. Stand next to it.
  3. Use the in-game say command with the format: say promote <MemberName>
  4. Example: say promote Merlin

Guild Dues

Guild dues are paid via Jack, a beholder NPC located on the Main Floor. There is also a Dues sign near his location. Dues collected go toward the guild's treasury for purchases and maintenance. A lever in the upper-left area of the Main Floor is used by Guild Masters to manage dues payouts.

Tokens are distributed via the purchase altars. The Kennel Token reads: “The holder of this card is allowed free access into and out of the Kennel.” Each token has a base value of 800 (in gold coin equivalency).

Crafting Rooms

Most crafting rooms are accessible from the Second Floor. Each has the same internal structure:

  • A crafting station (cauldron, workbench, tanning bench, etc.)
  • A New [Station] Altar — Drop the required item to replace an old/broken crafting station with a fresh one.
  • A Hard Reset Lever — Used by DMs/admins only to reset the map if something goes wrong.

Alchemy Lab

Accessed from the Second Floor (100 Platinum Coins entry fee, or with an Alchemy Token from the HQ).

  • Cauldron — Used for alchemy creation.
  • New Cauldron Altar — Replaces the existing cauldron with a new one.
  • Hard Reset Lever — DM-only.
  • Lightning Wall — Fires dragonbreath and banishment spells (purpose unclear, possibly a trap or test area).

Guild BBQ (Garden Pass) / Stove

The Guild BBQ is an outdoor map accessible from the Main Floor. Despite being labeled “Garden Pass” on the purchase altar in the Guild HQ, this room is the Guild Hall's BBQ and dining area. It is used for woodsman skill crafting via the Stove.

The exterior of the map is open grass with trees, decorative hedges, and wandering monsters (ants and xans). The interior is a walled courtyard with flagstone floors, long dining tables, chairs arranged around them, firepots for ambiance, and a barrel.

Interior Features:

  • Stove — The crafting station used for woodsman skill creation. It has a high container capacity and is pre-enchanted (magic +3).
  • New Stove Altar — Drop 1 Stove item on the altar to remove the old stove and create a fresh one. The altar message reads: “Removing your old stove. Please wait.”
  • Hard Reset Lever — Labeled “Pull this lever to clear the room.” When activated, it triggers two invisible lightning walls that fire dragonbreath and banishment spells at level 111–115, effectively clearing the room of any uninvited occupants. It also resets the stove via the same connection. This lever is accessible to guild leadership to manage the space.

Access:

Entry is controlled by a gate with a membership check. Only guild members pass freely; non-members are blocked and subject to the arrest script. The map exits back to the Main Floor via invisible exits at the entrance path.

Purchase: The Garden Pass (which grants access to this BBQ room) costs 20 Gold Coins at the Guild HQ altar.

Contains two separate crafting areas. Accessible with a Toolshed Pass (20 Gold Coins from the HQ).

Forge Area:

  • Forge — Used for blacksmithing.
  • New Forge Altar — Replaces the existing forge.
